Illustration Friday: Wings
Every night new stars bloom and are carried to the sky by a flock of crows.
I just painted this yesterday, and I'm trying to decide if I should make the birds darker. I want them to look like crows, but I want to be able to see them against the black sky also!

Crows Printed
Today I printed the new linocut of crows carrying stars into the sky. And because the Great Blue Heron print has been selling really well, I also needed to print some more of those. I was hoping they would look good together, and I think they do in their black & white, unpainted versions. I'm looking forward to painting the Crows and seeing how it looks finished!

Illustration Friday: Ocean
This week's Illustration Friday prompt, Ocean inspired me to start a new drawing. But I can tell at the rate I'm going, it won't be done before Friday. So just for the fun of it, here's one of my favorite older prints, penguins diving in the ocean. Penguins are so entertaining!

Distractions and Developments
There has been a bit of a slow down in my blog posting! And in general, I probably won't be able to post as often as in the past. But I will certainly try to post once a week.
I have a good reason for my distraction from art and blogging- I'm going to have a baby! And if you had asked me before, I would have told you that just being pregnant should not take away time from the regular things you love to do. But I was WRONG.
You need waaaaay more sleep, and doctor visits, and time acquiring baby-related stuff, and childbirth classes, and rearranging and decorating, and resolving pregnancy-related physical problems, and buying maternity clothes, and being nervous in general. Plus continuing with regular stuff like going to work and cooking dinner. So needless to say, I've had to relax my expectations.
But I am still making art, just more slowly. The Crows in my previous blog post are in progress, and I've pulled out my most recent children's book dummy. I had to set it aside for months to work on artwork for the big show I had in December with my photographer and painter friends. Now I can look at that dummy with fresh eyes!
So thank you for continuing to visit my blog, and I'll try to keep a new post up once a week. 2013 is going to be a great year full of new challenges for me, and I hope it is for you, too!!
