Distractions and Developments

There has been a bit of a slow down in my blog posting! And in general, I probably won't be able to post as often as in the past. But I will certainly try to post once a week.

I have a good reason for my distraction from art and blogging- I'm going to have a baby! And if you had asked me before, I would have told you that just being pregnant should not take away time from the regular things you love to do. But I was WRONG.

You need waaaaay more sleep, and doctor visits, and time acquiring baby-related stuff, and childbirth classes, and rearranging and decorating, and resolving pregnancy-related physical problems, and buying maternity clothes, and being nervous in general. Plus continuing with regular stuff like going to work and cooking dinner. So needless to say, I've had to relax my expectations.

But I am still making art, just more slowly. The Crows in my previous blog post are in progress, and I've pulled out my most recent children's book dummy. I had to set it aside for months to work on artwork for the big show I had in December with my photographer and painter friends. Now I can look at that dummy with fresh eyes!

So thank you for continuing to visit my blog, and I'll try to keep a new post up once a week. 2013 is going to be a great year full of new challenges for me, and I hope it is for you, too!!

  1. yeahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! weeeeeeehaaaaaaa!!! welcome to motherhood and not getting a good nights sleep for the next twenty years!!!

  2. Thanks Julia!!! I'm already not sleeping well, and I know it's just the beginning! :) :) :)

  3. Congratulations, Jill!! What exciting news for the New Year. :)

  4. How exciting, Jill!
    I'm a mom, a stepmom, a grandmother and a great-grandmother, so I hear what you're saying.
Do keep posting every week as you can - we will be watching for news, arty or baby!

  5. Thanks Dow and Katy! It really is exciting for us- I never expected to have children, so it's a whole new deal for us!

  6. Hooray! I'm so excited for you and I can't wait to meet the new addition to your family! :)

  7. Dear Jill,
    Congratulations on your exciting news.
I am writing this message as a teacher in England. I am in the process of making a simple songbook for the 0-5 year old children I work with. It will be used as part of our 10 week 'rhyme challenge' project and will be given to parents and children in the centre. Do you mind if I use this lovely image to accompany 'Rock-a-bye baby'? I would be happy to send you a copy before printing it. Many thanks in advance,
    Helen Douglas.

    1. Hi Helen-
Why don't you email me, and we can talk about this some more. Thanks!
